Collaboration
Relationships Between Teachers and Instructional Aids:
My foundational understanding and practice of good teacher-aid relationships showcases my ability to collaborate effectively with individuals in an educational setting. In this paper, I discuss elements of effective collaboration using paraprofessional educators in special education as an example. This review of the expectations and practices of working with para-educators in special education resource rooms comes from my professional remarks as well as my practical observation of the interrelationship that paraprofessionals hold within the classroom. My observations, both understood and applied, come from my experience working in a variety of classrooms that vary in age, involvement, and student exceptionality. Teacher and para-educators work as a team, they spend long hours with each-other and it is important that they have well working relationships. Two very important elements of collaboration are communication and proper training of your team. The relationship suggestions come from collaboration experience with special education
teams within my classrooms, these ideas have been studied, practiced, observed, and recorded.
