Assessments
A successful special education teacher uses multiple types of creative assessments to collect information about their students learning. Bingo is a strategy I use as a special education teacher to informally assess my students progress and understanding in number identification, letter identification, and for some simply matching picture to picture. This system of using Bingo as an assessment is unique in that you are able to use it as a class activity. I use different strategies to assess my students knowledge, for some students, I will verbally state the number/letter/ etc., they identify them fairly accurately. I may use reinforcements such as sign language or example such as icons to help students to find the right answer on there sheet. And for some of my students I still have them working on matching picture to picture.
I chose this artifact as an assessment because when working with my students, I found it hard to find a whole class assessments that was developmentally appropriate for all students. My students are very diverse in their abilities. I enjoy this activity because it can be used as a whole group assessment.
